2. Student Development

Students have expressed interest in the USC supporting undergraduate and professional students’ professional development and civic engagement. Given our alumni network, access to human capital, and the support of our student leaders, the USC Executive is committed to expanding the breadth and depth of opportunities available to Western and HBK students to improve their skills, learn how to plan for the future, and have their voices heard.

 Additional Executive Initiatives

The Executive Roadmap plans out how the executive will structure their programs, plans, and portfolios for the year under organized priority areas. However, when new opportunities or issues arise, they may implement additional programs. See below for updates on these additional initiatives.

Expanding Financial Literacy Programming

  • VPGF is working with his team to build out the Income Tax Clinic Coordinator role to incorporate more financial literacy programming in addition to the great work done during the Clinic.
  • VPGF and AVP Finance are planning to do two weeks of financial literacy programming; one each semester. This is in addition to the Income Tax Clinic.
  • Financial Literacy Week (part 1) is Nov 22-25 in collaboration with PennyDrops and Nathan Kennedy (tik toker).
  • VPCPA’s team promoted the week with tik toks, social media posts, a mass email, and will be producing a brand journalism article as well.

Training (might be rolled into other boxes)

  • President, VPCPA, VPSSP, and VPGF have facilitated various training for Peer Support volunteers; Board Directors; Co-ordinators; Associates; and Interns.
  • VPSSP continues to work with Peer Support and Peer Programs volunteers to provide ongoing training and support throughout the year, and to further develop our training program for next year.
  • We have rolled out three new mandatory EDI training modules for all of our staff (this update is also included in our EDI section for mandated training).
