Ethnocultural Programming Committee: Thank you for expressing interest in joining the Ethnocultural Support Services (ESS) Executive Team! We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic and passionate about advocacy, culture, diversity, inclusion, and race! We are looking for candidates who:
  • Are willing and available to commit approximately 2-4 hours per week to meetings, events, planning, and other related activities. The time commitment may vary depending on the amount of work required each week.
  • Are communicative, collaborative, and empathetic, with a willingness to listen and work effectively with others. Have an interest in advancing cultural and ethnic advocacy, promoting cultural awareness, and contributing to conversations surrounding issues and experiences faced by diverse ethnocultural communities. Previous experience with advocacy-focused organizations is not required. A strong passion for making a difference is what matters most!

PROGRAM INFORMATION: The Early Outreach Conference (REACH) is a USC-run conference that takes place every May for youth in the city of London and Middlesex County. REACH recognizes that many students decide their future educational pathways at an early age and hopes to provide the youth with information and tools to help them make well-informed decisions. The organization works with the local school boards to identify schools that have been deemed to have a higher population of students that may think of post-secondary education as out of their "reach". The Early Outreach Executive team will work from October 2026 until May 2027 to plan, organize and implement a 3-day conference that takes place over a weekend in May 2027 (date TBD). At the conference, participants will learn about the different opportunities they can pursue for future education and receive guidance and motivation from both Western University students and professors. These positions require varying time commitments depending on the time of the year. Approximately 2 – 5 hours of work will be required per week. Role descriptions can be found below. ** The Executive Committee will be required to be physically present in London for the conference weekend in May 2027 (date TBD)** Available positions:

Member, USC Appeals Board: We are currently looking for student volunteers to become members of the USC Appeals Board. The positions are for a two year term (October 13th, 2026 to June 30, 2028). In your role you will be required to act as an unbiased official who will, as part of a panel, hear appeals levied against decisions made by the Elections Governance Board and Clubs Governance Board as outlined in the Appeals Board Terms of Reference. We are looking for individuals with strong communication skills (both in oral and written form), the ability to remove bias from situations, and strong reasoning skills. The time commitment for this position will vary through the year. On average, you can expect to work 0-5 hours per week. During Elections (mid January to mid February) there may be upwards of 10-15 hours per week. Grants & Recognition Committee: The Grants & Recognition Committee is a body that oversees the distribution of monetary grants to student groups and recognition awards to individual students. Committee Members will work collaboratively with the Grants & Recognition Coordinator and the Vice-President Student Services to facilitate the Grants Program, presiding over its disbursement to clubs and other student groups. Student Engagement First Year Rep Program:
The USC is seeking engaged first-year students to join the Student Engagement First-Year Representative Program. The First-Year Representative Program connects the USC directly with Western’s first-year student community through a network of student representatives. First-Year Representatives serve as a voice for their peers, sharing feedback, perspectives, and ideas about the first-year experience while helping students learn about USC events, services, resources, and opportunities to get involved.
