VP, Orientation and Programming 2026/2027

Sophie Huc (she/her)

About

Role

Sophie Huc is the Vice President Orientation & Programming and is responsible for all USC student-run events/programming, and leads the USC in the planning and execution of  Orientation initiatives. Sophie also works to empower students to take on leadership roles in the community through year-long management of eight Faculty Soph teams, and part-time staff who support diverse student groups on campus.

Sophie graduated from Western University with a Bachelor of Science and an Honours Specialization in Biology. Uniquely bridging the worlds of scientific inquiry and creative media, Sophie has built a prominent campus footprint as an Editor for The Gazette and Editor-in-Chief and Director of Photography for the Science Students’ Council (SSC). In these capacities, she managed visual storytelling, shaped student journalism, and led creative teams. She also served as a Faculty of Science Soph and most recently served as an LST.

Outside of campus life, Sophie runs a successful photography business as a side hustle. Her technical expertise behind the lens, combined with her editorial leadership has helped her  capture compelling visual narratives for a diverse range of clients.

Originally from a very small town in Ontario, Sophie brings a grounded, community-oriented perspective to her work at the USC. She grew up in a vibrant, animal-loving household, sharing their home with two dogs and two cats, alongside a childhood bunny and snake. Outside of her academic and entrepreneurial endeavors, Sophie loves to unwind by getting lost in a good book, going camping, and spending quality time hanging out with friends.
