General Accountability 

A Western Relay for Life Committee Member is a student who, because of maturity, integrity, academic success, interest in others, and passion for the work done by the Canadian Cancer Society(CCS), has been selected to support the Relay for Life initiative. The Committee Member shall promote, by personal example and guidance, a mature and conscientious attitude toward the philosophy and overarching goals of the University and CCS.

Nature and Scope 

The Committee Member embodies an approachable, responsible, mature and professional character that carries themself as a role model and demonstrates their commitment to the overall mission and vision of Relay for Life, student activities, and the University as a whole.

The Committee Member is a student that has displayed exceptional leadership qualities. The position requires an seven-month commitment with approximately 4 - 6 hours per week during Fall and Winter term.

The Committee Member works throughout the year to plan and facilitate the annual Western Relay for Life, as well as additional fundraising initiatives, which work toward the promotion and awareness of CCS initiatives.

Specific Accountabilities 

General Duties 

• • Work with the USC, the Relay for Life planning committee, and additional groups at Western to promote the "spirit" of the community through the planning and facilitation of the Relay for Life event.

  • Know and observe the standards, rules and regulations of Western and effectively integrate them into the Relay for Life planning process.

  • Build community by supporting collaboration between varying departments of Western and Affiliated Institutions by communicating with and encouraging fellow student leader groups.

  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Relay for Life programs with an aim to enhance the quality of student life and the success of future Relay for Life planning committees.

  • Promote and foster student engagement and buy-in towards the Relay for Life and CCS.

Specific Duties

• • Organize and execute fundraising initiatives throughout the academic year that promote both the values of CCS and Western

  • Evaluate yourself after the event is completed. Communicate openly and regularly with the Relay for Life planning committee and other student groups effectively.

  • Other administrative duties as required.

Ethnocultural Programming Committee: Thank you for expressing interest in joining the Ethnocultural Support Services (ESS) Executive Team! We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic and passionate about advocacy, culture, diversity, inclusion, and race! We are looking for candidates who:

• Are willing and available to commit approximately 2-4 hours per week to meetings, events, planning, and other related activities. The time commitment may vary depending on the amount of work required each week.
• Are communicative, collaborative, and empathetic, with a willingness to listen and work effectively with others. Have an interest in advancing cultural and ethnic advocacy, promoting cultural awareness, and contributing to conversations surrounding issues and experiences faced by diverse ethnocultural communities. Previous experience with advocacy-focused organizations is not required. A strong passion for making a difference is what matters most!

PROGRAM INFORMATION: The Early Outreach Conference (REACH) is a USC-run conference that takes place every May for youth in the city of London and Middlesex County. REACH recognizes that many students decide their future educational pathways at an early age and hopes to provide the youth with information and tools to help them make well-informed decisions. The organization works with the local school boards to identify schools that have been deemed to have a higher population of students that may think of post-secondary education as out of their "reach". The Early Outreach Executive team will work from October 2026 until May 2027 to plan, organize and implement a 3-day conference that takes place over a weekend in May 2027 (date TBD). At the conference, participants will learn about the different opportunities they can pursue for future education and receive guidance and motivation from both Western University students and professors. These positions require varying time commitments depending on the time of the year. Approximately 2 – 5 hours of work will be required per week. Role descriptions can be found below. ** The Executive Committee will be required to be physically present in London for the conference weekend in May 2027 (date TBD)** Available positions:
