Deputy Speaker: The Deputy Speaker of Council (DSC) is responsible for assisting the Speaker in ensuring the rules of Council are upheld, and that each Councillor is treated equally and fairly. The DSC reports directly to the Speaker of Council. A successful candidate will have a strong interest in student government as well as policies and procedures. They must have strong problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to different situations as well as strong interpersonal skills. Students with experience as a camp counsellor, lifeguard, or similar role may be a good fit for this role. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a rule-driven environment and is committed to maintaining procedural integrity. Coordinators work to engage students in meaningful extracurricular pursuits, while supporting the programming interests and advocacy platforms of the USC Executive. As resource providers, service programmers, event planners, social educators, policy writers and creative designers, Coordinators contribute immensely to the overall student experience at Western.

Please note that these positions are full time hours for the summer and part time during the school year. AVP University Affairs: Support the Vice-President University Affairs in their mandate to represent the interests of all undergraduate students at Western University by assisting in the coordination of ongoing advocacy initiatives. These initiatives include; revising and reviewing policy; liaising with the USC’s Advocacy Services Department in accordance with the USC’s advocacy initiatives and priorities. AVP External Affairs: Support the Vice President External Affairs in their mandate to represent the interests of all undergraduate students at Western University by conducting research; drafting, revising, and reviewing policy; assisting in the coordination of ongoing advocacy initiatives; and liaising with the USC’s Advocacy and Government Services Department.
