Will masks be mandatory while inside on campus?

Yes, masks will be expected to be worn inside as per government and university regulations. As a campus community, we have a shared responsibility to keep ourselves and others safe.

Are masks mandatory while outside on campus?

No, masks are not mandatory outside. However, we encourage students to wear their masks in order to keep our community safe.

For in-person classes, will a distance of 6ft be mandatory or enforced?

Yes, seats inside of classrooms will be marked with a green sticker six feet apart, indicating that you can occupy the seat.

Will Western be providing students with PPE?

Yes, students can pick up their two face coverings at the Great Hall from August 31, 2020 to September 18, 2020 from 11AM-4PM. Be sure to bring your WesternOne card when you pick up your masks!

Will Western have COVID-19 testing available on campus?

Yes, Western will have COVID-19 testing available for symptomatic students at Student Health Services.

Will students be able to study in spaces, on campus, other than the library?

Yes, the library and certain buildings will be open for student use – physical distancing must be maintained.

Will USC eateries, like the Spoke and Wave, be open to students?

Yes, the Wave and the Spoke will be open beginning on September 7th. For more details, visit the Wave and the Spoke Instagram page.

Will the Rec Centre be open? How will we schedule times to go?

Yes, the Western Student Recreation Centre will reopen to students on Monday, September 7. Students will need to book workout sessions between 45-75 minutes on the Campus Recreation site.

What happens to large in-person events?

As per provincial guidelines, the USC will be limiting indoor gatherings to 50 people and outdoor gatherings to 100 people, physically distant.

Will the USC offices be open and accessible to students?

The USC main desk will be moved to the USC Welcome Centre, in the Purple Store. Students will be able to book meetings with USC staff and find out more information about the USC on site.

How will USC clubs operate this year?

USC Clubs will be operating virtually and in-person. If you are interested in finding out more about clubs, visit our website. If you have any further questions or concerns, reach out to clubs@westernusc.ca.
