USC Student Awards
The University Students’ Council aims to reward those students who have put forth exemplary volunteer or community effort in the form of USC-sponsored awards.
Below are the various award descriptions and the application link (when open).
16 awards are available for a total value of $5,700. USC student employees (including Coordinators, Associates, Interns, and Board of Directors) are eligible to apply for the USC Student Awards.
All of the awards are due on March 12 at 11:59 PM.
Future of Western Award – Value: $300.00

Description: The Future of Western Award is presented annually to a full-time, first-year student leader who has excelled in two of the following areas: academics, student government, athletics, music or dance or fine arts, and philanthropy.
Student Artist Award – Value $250.00

Description: The Student Artist Award is presented to a full-time undergraduate student that demonstrates creativity and passion for at least one of the following areas: music, dance, fine arts, literature, and humanities.
Tracey Knight Memorial Award

Description: The Tracey Knight Memorial Award is presented annually to a full-time undergraduate student serving as a first-time Councillor on the University Students’ Council. Nominations must be supported by 2 additional current USC Councillors.
USC Alumni Award – Value $850.00

Description: The USC Alumni Award is awarded to two (2) full-time undergraduate students in any program, who are not in their graduating year. It is based on financial need and involvement in extracurricular activities at Western or in the community. Applicants must be eligible for OSAP as determined by the Office of the Registrar.
Honour W Award

Description: The Honour W Award is presented annually to three (3) full-time undergraduate students at Western University. The award recognizes outstanding contribution to the community through volunteer service or extra-curricular activity, and academic achievement.
Student Athlete Award – Value $400.00

Description: The Student Athlete Award is presented annually to a full-time undergraduate student athlete that demonstrates outstanding leadership and proficiency in their sport.
Student Award of Merit – Value $250.00

Description: The Student Award of Merit is presented annually to three (3) full-time undergraduate students who are not in their first year and have excelled in at least two of the following areas: academics, student government, athletics, music or dance or fine arts, and philanthropy.
Service to Western Award – Value $300.00

Description: The Service to Western Award is presented to a full-time undergraduate student who is in their graduating year. The award recognizes students who continuously work to create positive change in the campus community and who have had a profound impact on Western throughout their degree.
USC IMPACT AWARDS
In line with the USC’s goal to increase equity, inclusion, and accessibility, a series of “Impact Awards” have been introduced with the aim of recognizing the diverse student leaders who make our campus community great. USC Staff who have a direct correlation to an award are not eligible for said award, (i.e the Accessibility coordinator is ineligible for the Accessible Leadership Impact Award.)

Description: Presented to one (1) full-time undergraduate student. The Peer Support Impact Award aims to recognize individuals who have shown empathy and compassion while lending their support to others. The recipient is someone who has positively impacted the life or lives of others in personal or professional aspects.
