USC STUDENT AWARDS

 

 

 

The University Students’ Council aims to reward those students who have put forth exemplary volunteer or community effort in the form of USC sponsored awards. Below are Awards available to students at Western University.


FUTURE OF WESTERN AWARD

The Future of Western Award is presented annually to a full-time, first-year student leader who has excelled in two of the following areas: academics, student government, athletics, music or dance or fine arts, and philanthropy.

Please outline the extent of your accomplishments at Western, since September 2017, in at least 2 of the following areas: (a) student government, (b) academics, (c) athletics, (d) music/dance/fine arts, or (e) philanthropy. Your submission must include a detailed description of your contributions in a maximum of 500 words, along with the names and contact information of 2 verifiers who can confirm your involvement.

HONOUR W AWARD – Deadline: February 25th, 2018 at 4pm

The Honour W Award is presented annually to two (2) full-time undergraduate students at Western University. The award recognizes outstanding contribution to the community through volunteer service or extra-curricular activity, and academic achievement.

Please describe examples of the nominee’s service to the Western/London community during the past year in an essay of 500 words. Relevant categories of service include: (a) academics, (b) athletics, (c) music/dance/fine arts, (d) philanthropy, and (e) student government. As well, please include the names and contact information of 2 verifiers who can confirm the nominee’s involvement.

STUDENT ATHLETE AWARD – Deadline: February 25th, 2018 at 4pm

The Student Athlete Award is presented annually to a full-time undergraduate student athlete that demonstrates outstanding leadership and proficiency in their sport.

A complete application must include a personal statement describing your leadership and proficiency in your sport and the financial difficulties you are facing in a 500 word essay, along with the names and contact information of 2 verifiers who can confirm your leadership and proficiency in your sport.

STUDENT AWARD OF MERIT – Deadline: February 25th, 2018 at 4pm

The Student Award of Merit is presented annually to two (2) full-time undergraduate students who are not in their first year and have excelled in at least two of the following areas:  academics, student government, athletics, music or dance or fine arts, and philanthropy.

Please outline the extent of your accomplishments at Western in at least 2 of the following areas: (a) student government, (b) academics, (c) athletics, (d) music/dance/fine arts, or (e) philanthropy. Your submission must include a detailed description of your contributions in 500 words, along with the names and contact information of 2 verifiers who can confirm your involvement.

THE TRACEY KNIGHT MEMORIAL AWARD – Deadline: February 25th, 2018 at 4pm

The Tracey Knight Memorial Award is presented annually to a full-time undergraduate student serving as a first-time Councillor on the University Students’ Council.  A Councillor cannot nominate himself/herself.

Please highlight your involvement in the USC, and why you are deserving of this award in an essay not exceeding 500 words.

USC ALUMNI AWARD – Deadline: February 25th, 2018 at 4pm

The USC Alumni Award is awarded to two (2) full-time undergraduate students in any program, who are not in their graduating year. It is based on financial need, and involvement in extra-curricular activities at Western or in the community.  Applicants must be eligible for OSAP as determined by the Office of the Registrar.
