First Aid Certifcation – SERT
Comprehensive first aid and CPR training. This course provides an in-depth understanding of first aid including medical/legal choking, breathing emergencies, seizures, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, abdominal and chest injuries, burns, and sudden medical conditions. Includes CPR-Level C certification. *Recognized by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
Standard First Aid:
Taught by Red Cross instructors who are also trained Emergency Medical Responders volunteering within our Western Community, our comprehensive Standard First Aid and CPR level C training provides an in-depth understanding of first aid including choking, breathing emergencies, seizures, spinal injuries, environmental emergencies, bone and joint injuries, abdominal and chest injuries, burns, and sudden medical conditions. Includes CPR-Level C certification. Courses are open to the Public and recognized by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. (WHMIS)
The UWO Student Emergency Response Team (SERT) is a student run, volunteer organization providing EMS response to 911 calls on Main, Brescia and Huron Campuses. Our fifty team member team provides service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the academic school year and 8:30 – 4:30 weekday service from May to August. We are dispatched through the Campus Police (CCPS) to any medical emergency on-campus, responding in three person co-ed teams, with an average response time of 2 minutes. All proceeds from SERT’s first aid courses go towards maintaining and expanding our response capabilities on Western’s campus, and we appreciate your consideration in supporting our essential campus service. As we are volunteer, student-run organization, we also have the pleasure of offering a discounted rate for all of our first aid courses.

SERT Cancellation Policy:
All cancellations and transfers must be approved by the SERT Education Coordinator, who can be reached at the SERT office (Room 28, UCC), at 661-2111 ext. 84824, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Cancellations or exchanges will be honoured only when they are requested five business days in advance of your class. After that time up until the start of the course, a $35 fee will be levied for course cancellations or transfers. Requests made after this time will only be honoured under a medical or compassionate grounds with written documentation. No refund will be given for participants who fail to show up to a course. If you wish to take another course, you must pay the full course price again.
