The USC Accessibility Committee serves the student population by advocating for people with disabilities to address disability-related barriers on campus. We also run awareness campaigns to tackle stigmas against people with disabilities and educational workshops on the topic of accessibility! There are various positions open for you to get involved to create meaningful change! Applications are open to any Western undergraduate student. Previous experience on the Accessibility Committee is not required. Please submit a separate application for each position you are interested in applying for.

Executive Positions within the USC Accessibility Committee include:

Student Outreach Director (2 positions available)
This position works directly with students with various disabilities at Western University to learn more about their needs and determine if there are any accessibility changes that need to be made on campus. They will be conducting research, communicating findings, and implementing changes to improve accessibility at Western. The Student Outreach Director also works to stay up to date on policies around campus that may impose barriers to students.

Community Outreach Director (3 positions available)
This position creates and maintains relationships with clubs at Western and organizations outside of Western, typically within the London community, who work to serve and support people with disabilities. They are to stay informed of various off-campus events/activities that students can take part in, and work closely with the Marketing Director to promote accessibility-related events. They will also work to recruit potential guest speakers and disability advocates to bring to Western.

Events Director (3 positions available)
This position focuses on planning and executing both large-scale events and smaller campaigns throughout the academic year. They will work with the Community Outreach Directors to collaborate with other clubs on campus to put together larger events and recruit guest speakers and disability advocates to run events. They will also work with the Student Outreach Directors to plan events that are directed towards students’ needs and interests.

Marketing Director (2 positions available)
This position create various graphic designs for promotional materials, and be in charge of the committee’s social media platforms. They will also work closely with the Student Outreach Directors and Community Outreach Directors to determine a list of resources for students that can be found on and off campus.

Finance Director (1 position available)
This position will be working closely with the Wellness Equity Coordinator and Event Directors to manage the committee’s budget for the academic year, and allocate funds to various events and initiatives. Some main duties within this position includes creating a document that keeps track of funds spent by the committee and collecting receipts for reimbursements.

Administrative Executive (2 positions available)
This position will work closely with the Wellness Equity Coordinator to schedule meetings, prepare agendas, record meeting minutes and follow up on action items. They will also maintain a notion board to ensure projects are according to timeline. This position will have the opportunity to closely shadow the Wellness Equity Coordinator and learn about how the Accessibility Committee operates.
