Charity Ball Coordinator

Charity Ball is Western’s largest formal affair. This annual event is a long-standing Western tradition and a chance for students of all faculties and affiliated colleges to gather for a night of fun and in support of a great cause. Every year the proceeds from Charity Ball go towards funding the initiatives of a local London organization. The Charity Ball Coordinator and their committee are responsible for overseeing the planning and promotions of the annual event as well as selecting the recipient organization in consultation with the Vice President Student Events.

The Charity and Food Support Service Coordinator and their executive organize events and campaigns, which raise awareness and funds for various causes at the Western, London, and national levels. Their goal is to promote a charitable attitude on campus and foster a tie to philanthropy that stays with students long after they leave Western. The major events organized by the Charity team include the Haunted House, Children’s Holiday Party and Relay for Life. The Coordinator also organizes the USC Food Support Service, an anonymous campus food bank available to students 24/7.
Charity Orientation Commissioner

The Charity Orientation Commissioner oversees the Shinerama Assistant Head Soph and Terry Fox Assistant Head Soph and their soph team. The Charity Orientation Commissioner effectively oversees the planning and execution of all charity related orientation week events related to the Shinerama and Terry Fox organizations, including the annual Shinerama Day and the Terry Fox Run
Clubs Coordinator

The Clubs Coordinator promotes and executes all aspects of Clubs Week and Clubs Week II, under the direction of the Vice President Student Events. The Clubs Coordinator works directly with clubs to ensure that all executives and club members of each club are getting the best out of the USC Club Community experience. The Clubs Coordinator, in conjunction with the Clubs Governance Commissioner, ensures that all USC clubs adhere to the Clubs Policy. The Clubs Coordinator also responds to any club needing assistance.
Clubs Governance Commissioner

The Clubs Governance Commissioner is responsible for ensuring that the Clubs policy and its procedures are being complied with by clubs, the Clubs Policy Committee and those with authority over the clubs system. The Clubs Governance Commissioner also processes complaints to the Vice President Student Events and annually reviews all club Constitution.
Commissioner-At-Large Student Events

The Student Events Commissioner-at-Large assists and supports the Vice President in various aspects within the Student Events Portfolio. This year, the Commissioner at Large is taking the lead on several projects such as organizing the Student Events Crew, the Constituent Vice President Coalition, as well as conducting research on other events/concepts from other North American universities. The Commissioner at Large is also working closely with the Vice President Student Events to enhance the current structure and function of the USC Vice President Student Events.
First Year Students’ Commissioner

The First Year Students’ Commissioner’s job is to organize programs for first year students (residence, off-campus, and affiliates) throughout the academic year. Together, with a selected executive and the Vice President Student Events, it is their responsibility to organize programming throughout Homecoming for first year students, the Champions’ Cup flag football tournament in late November and the first year Frost Week Event during the first week back in January. The first year commissioner is also responsible for sitting on Housing Communication meetings and maintaining constant communication with the residence Vice Presidents of Programming to ensure the execution of the most exciting and rewarding events to enhance first year student’s experiences here at UWO.
Homecoming and Athletics Coordinator

The Homecoming and Athletics Coordinator is responsible for organizing and Executing Homecoming programming on behalf of the USC. This includes leading a team of student volunteers to assist with the execution of the summer homecoming rep meeting, homecoming parade, western royalty competition, and charity ball.
Leadership Development Commissioner

The Leadership Development Commissioner aims to reward those students who have put forth exemplary volunteer or community effort in the form of USC sponsored awards. Responsible for the promotion and production of any USC-based student awards, The Leadership Development Commissioner chairs the Awards Committee which gives out monthly Honour W Awards, as well as the annual Future of Western Award and the Award of Merit. Responsible for planning and executing at least one leadership and development conference a year in consultation with the Vice-President Student Events and Student Life Manager. Actively seek to promote available leadership opportunities to students on campus.
Orientation Coordinator

The Orientation Coordinator is an employee of the University Students’ Council. Together with a team of selected Orientation Staff members and the Vice President Student Events, all aspects of Orientation are organized, including Soph selection and training, programming, merchandising, and first year student communications. The Orientation Coordinator works closely with members of the USC Executives to provide a detailed budget, work on neighbour relations, and integrate the Shinerama/Terry Fox and the USC Soph Team into the program to fully represent the USC through one of its biggest and most successful programs.
Public Arts Commissioner

The Festival of the Arts Commissioner oversees the planning and execution of all aspects of the annual Festival of the Arts, which may feature music, film, visual art and more. The commissioner selects a committee to work with, as well as coordinating with other student groups for the various events of the Festival and coordinates calls for submissions of student artwork in all categories.
Theatre Western Coordinator

Theatre Western is a student-run production company that produces full-length musical and non-musical dramatic productions as well as student-written one-act plays. There are opportunities for students to become involved as playwrights, directors, stage managers, performers or backstage crew. Theatre Western also offers trips and a series of workshops for those looking to build their confidence, understanding and knowledge of the performing arts. The Theatre Western Coordinator acts as the producer for each production, works to create additional opportunities for students to become involved with theatre and networks between other student theatre groups on campus and the University Students’ Council. The Coordinator oversees all events and productions including the Winter Play, the musical and the production of one-act plays, Purple Shorts.
Volunteer Commissioner

The Volunteer Commissioner is responsible for promoting volunteerism on campus through all available means, including Volunteer Week in the fall. They also coordinate the placement of volunteers within the USC in conjunction with the Board of Directors.
