Governance Officer
The Governance Officer (GO) ensures that the USC conducts itself with transparent, fair and effective governance that is responsive to the needs of students. The GO is the Secretary of the Executive Council, and sits as a non-voting, ex-officio member. The GO also oversees the Chief Returning Officer (CRO) and the Speaker of Council, and acts as a general policy and governance resource to the Council and Executive Council.

The Chief Returning Coordinator is responsible for the smooth governance of each of the Senate/Board of Governors elections and the USC elections in the fall and winter terms respectfully. In conjunction with the Elections Committee of which they are a member of, they operate the elections according to the rules and regulations laid out in USC By-Law #2, the Election Procedure Code.
Deputy Returning Commissioner

The Deputy Returning Commissioner provides assistance to the Chief Returning Coordinator with the governance of elections, and assumes those duties in the CROs absence. They also oversee the operation of any polling stations in the election, and sits as a member of the Elections Committee.

The Deputy Speaker provides all assistance as required to the Speaker of the Council, and assumes the role of Speaker in their absence. They must attend all meetings of council.

The Speaker oversees all Council meetings in a way that is consistent with the provisions of the USC By-Laws, and ensures that order is maintained and enforces disciplinary action where warranted. They must attend all Council meetings.
