    Hello,

I am interested in running/applying for a coordinator/commissioner role for next year. I am aware some USC elections for next year are happening in the next month or so….when do the new coordinator/commissioner positions get picked and how do we apply?

    Please let me know,

    Kelly

    • SM - Media & Communications says:

Hi Kelly, and thank you for your interest! There wouldn’t be a USC without students looking to become involved.

The upcoming elections (Feb 14 & 15) are for USC President, Faculty President, and Representatives. We invite everyone to look over the applications at http://voteusc.ca and consider running for these positions too!

Commissioners and Coordinators are selected by the President / Vice President responsible for that position through a process similar to a job interview. This happens throughout the year, depending on the position, but the bulk of the applications happen in late March and late September each year. Generally, you are asked to submit a cover letter outlining…

 Why you are interested in the position.
 What relevant experience you have.
 How you would handle the time commitment.
 What ideas you have to improve the position and the program(s).
 A description of your personal management style
 Why you would be the best candidate.

To help you with your application, the Final Reports of the students who have previously held that position will be available at the front desk in the USC office in UCC 340, and of course you are more than welcome to come in and sit down with the President or VP!

Please watch the website or follow us on twitter — http://www.twitter.com/western_usc — for announcements as the positions come open.

  2. George says:

When are the positions for the Commissioners and Coordinators being selected?

    • SM - Media & Communications says:

We’re currently busy setting up interviews with all candidates. Once all interviews are complete, the selection process will begin. Exactly when a person will be chosen to fill a position will depend on the number of candidates and how quickly the interviews can be conducted.
