The University Students’ Council is proud to announce that incoming Vice-President University Affairs, Alysha Li, has been selected as the 2012-2013 Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) President.

OUSA represents the interests of over 150,000 professional and undergraduate full-time and part-time students across nine universities in Ontario. OUSA’s mission and mandate is to lobby the provincial government for accessible, affordable, accountable, and high quality post-secondary education in Ontario.

Being an executive member of OUSA has its advantages, as Li will have an enhanced insight into the post-secondary education issues in Ontario. This will also strengthen her internal lobbying position as the student representative on Western’s undergraduate educational priorities.

“I am excited to be representing Western, the USC, and all OUSA member schools as their President,” said Li. “I am looking forward to bringing not only Western’s priorities to the provincial government, but OUSA’s as well.”

The I Know Someone Service is an educational, awareness, training and social marketing campaign developed by the USC, Sexual Assault Center of London and Changing Ways that works to educate students on the spectrum of sexual violence on the University campus. It works to increase awareness about the continuum of sexual violence, teach bystander skills to safely intervene when necessary and empower students to recognize their role in ending sexual violence.
